Practice Areas

Rauch Darby & Company is an unusual small firm in that, while we specialise in criminal, prisoners advocacy and family law, we provide a full range of services in the areas listed below as well. We find that expanding into these areas best serves the clients' needs and provides a well-rounded practice.
Criminal Law

We commonly practice criminal defence, including trial work, appeals and constitutional challenges. We advocate regularly for women, youth, Indigenous peoples, people with disability or mental health issues, and others facing challenges in their interactions with criminal law.

Family Law

Our family law practice ranges from child protection to divorce and separation agreements, including parenting arrangements. We attempt to collaborate wherever we can for a fair resolution outside of the courts, without sacrificing the rights and dignity of our clients and the interests of their children.

Prisoner Rights

We provide a full range of services for prisoners including disciplinary hearings, parole applications, informal dispute resolutions, judicial reviews, appeals and Charter challenges.

Human Rights and Mental Health

We represent those whose human rights may be threatened by discrimination on the basis of gender, age, sexual orientation, disbaility, race or culture, whether in the workplace, the prison system, or other areas by providing information and advocacy and appearing at Human Rights Tribunals and before BC Review Boards.

Civil, Immigration and Employment

We provide advice and representation in small claims, wills and estates, and various civil matters. We also represent people with immigration matters including cross border children's interests. We also assist those with employment issues.

Indigenous Legal Issues

We regularly represent Indigenous peoples in each of our practice areas, recognising specific challenges facing Indigenous individuals and communities within the legal system.
